ABOUT PSA PHOTO GATHERING 2025
Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon) is an island nation located on the main maritime routes in the Indian Ocean, nestled like a teardrop 31 km off the south-eastern coast of India and 880 km north of the equator. Surrounded by turquoise seas and tranquil beaches, Sri Lanka has lush landscapes, misty mountains, a vibrant and rich cultural heritage, historical sites across the country, abundant wild life, bustling markets, serene tea plantations, and different styles of architecture influenced by centuries of foreign occupation. It offers a wide, varied, and unique experience where natural beauty, history, culture, and serendipity converge.
With a landmass of 65,610 sq km, Sri Lanka is home to nearly 22 million people of different ethnicities and religions. The complex interplay of cultures due to centuries of foreign influence through trade and invasions, and later occupation and control by different European nations for nearly 4–1/2 centuries, it has created a vibrant mosaic of culture woven from different threads, a tapestry made of multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-lingual society.
